WHO WE ARE

Our Mission & Values

To grow a sustainable regional food system by providing market access, essential services and resources to local producers and increasing community access to fresh, healthy food.

From Small Beginnings

Kohala Food Hub began in 2019 as a project under HIP Agriculture to support local farmers with essential food system infrastructure. In 2024, we became an autonomous nonprofit under Feed Hawai‘i to meet growing demand and deepen our impact.

How We’ve Grown

150+ Local Producers

Grown from just 12 producers in 2019, our network now includes small farms, backyard growers, and food makers across Hawaiʻi Island.

$30K —> $920K Revenue

From $30,000 in 2019 to $920,000 in 2024—we’ve experienced exponential growth, fueling the local agricultural economy and expanding food access.

2,000+ Customers

Our online market now reaches 2,000+ people with 400+ local products via 8 pickup spots and 2 delivery routes—up from just 1 in 2019.

Our Why

At Kohala Food Hub, we believe a resilient food system requires more than just good food — it needs the infrastructure, support, and coordination to get that food from our hardworking local producers to the tables of our community.

Farmers already carry the enormous responsibility of growing food and creating value-added products. Our role is to ease that burden by creating clear, reliable pathways from farm to household — especially in a rural region like Kohala where transportation, internet access, and affordability can all pose barriers.

We are here to bridge the gaps, honor the work of our producers, and ensure that everyone in our community has access to fresh, locally grown food.
